Aide à l’Enfance de l’Inde et du Népal (AEIN), in collaboration with Les Amis du Tibet, is pleased to announce a special screening of the Nepalese film SHAMBHALA on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 6:30 PM at Ciné Utopia, Luxembourg.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Min Bahadur Bham, SHAMBHALA is Nepal’s official submission for the 2024 Academy Awards in the Best International Film category. Set in the breathtaking and remote Dolpo region of Nepal, SHAMBHALA tells a poignant story of love, loss, and self-discovery.
The film centers on Pema, a woman in a polyandrous marriage—a traditional practice where one woman marries multiple brothers. When her first husband, Tashi, disappears on the trade route to Lhasa, rumors threaten her family’s happiness. Determined to find him, Pema embarks on a perilous journey through the unforgiving wilderness alongside her second husband, the monk Karma. What unfolds is a transformative tale of resilience and spiritual awakening, culminating in Pema’s search for the mythical kingdom of SHAMBHALA, a place where humanity and nature live in harmony.
